After the Cincinnati Reds won the series against the Philadelphia Phillies, the team was preparing to take that momentum into the next slate of games against the St. Louis Cardinals, starting on Friday. As the Reds look to get back on track, the series with the Cardinals will be delayed as Friday’s game has been postponed due to weather in the area.

Announced by Cincinnati on its social media pages, Friday’s outing will be made up as part of a doubleheader on Saturday.

“Tonight’s Reds-Cardinals game has been postponed and will be made up as the first game of a split doubleheader tomorrow, May 23, at 1:10 PM,” the team announced on X, formerly Twitter.

While the reason wasn’t specifically said in the announcement, rain has been prevalent in the area on Friday, and the Reds’ post leads to a link that details “Rainout information.” The hope is that Saturday will be a much more manageable and clearer day for baseball, with Cincinnati and St. Louis facing off twice in one day.

More information on the postponement of the Reds and Cardinals game

The Reds would provide more information about the postponement of what was supposed to be Friday’s game against the Cardinals, especially how it relates to tickets. However, the team would say that tickets for Friday can be used for Saturday afternoon’s contest.

“Fans holding tickets for tonight’s game may present their same ticket for the make-up game scheduled for tomorrow, Saturday, May 23, 2026, at 1:10 PM, with no exchange necessary,” the team wrote. “Gates will open for the make-up game for Season Ticket Members at 11:40 AM and the general public at 12:10 PM. The timing of the originally scheduled game for Saturday, May 23, 2026, at 7:15 PM remains unchanged. Gates will open for that game for Season Ticket Members at 5:15 PM and the general public at 5:45 PM.”

Cincinnati and St. Louis won’t have to wait long to face off against one another as they’ll have two games on Saturday, one in the afternoon and the other at night. The Reds are 26-24, last in the NL Central, while the Cardinals are 28-21, third in the division.
