Reds’ Hunter Greene breaks silence with big injury update
USA TODAY Network via Reuters Connect

Cincinnati Reds star Hunter Greene is recovering from an elbow injury. While initial reports suggested he could return in July, it remains to be seen when he will officially join the starting rotation once again. Greene recently spoke to reporters and provided a crucial injury update, via Charlie Clifford.

“It’s really hard to juggle that because I’m so used to being around my guys and the players,” Greene said. “I’ve been telling the guys, and they totally understand because they’re in it as well and they have the same perspective, but the work that I’m getting in Arizona is really, really solid work.

“And I feel really good about it. I’m making really good progression.”

Greene is working hard to return from the injury as soon as possible. Cincinnati is understandably going to be cautious. Nevertheless, they are looking forward to Greene’s return. He has been one of the best pitchers in baseball in recent years, and Greene could help the Reds make a postseason push in 2026.

“The expectation when I get back is to be healthy and is to dominate,” Greene added. “All of you are going to have that expectation, all the staff is going to have the expectation, players, and most importantly myself. I have to make sure that I hit my checkpoints so I’m able to do that when I get back here.

“It’s not just getting back, it’s being at the best when I am back.”

Updates on Hunter Greene’s injury status will continue to be monitored and provided as they are made available.
