Report: Dodgers' Tony Gonsolin forearm soreness 'has not responded as well' as team hoped

Ahead of Thursday's game against the New York Mets, Los Angeles Dodgers fans got some good news, and they got some bad news.

On the bright side, ace lefty Clayton Kershaw was activated off of the injured list and will be starting the series finale on Thursday. In a potentially dire development though, injured right-hander Tony Gonsolin's stint on the IL isn't off to a great start.

The NL Cy Young award candidate was placed on the IL with a right forearm strain on Monday. The Dodgers have already lost two-time All-Star starting pitcher Walker Buehler with the same ailment for the rest of the season, and potentially all of 2023 as well.

Amongst a stacked -- though beleaguered -- starting rotation in Los Angeles, Gonsolin has been the best and most consistent hurler all season. The 28-year-old is currently 16-1 with a 2.10 ERA, 0.86 WHIP and .169 opponent's batting average, all of which led the NL prior to his injury.
