One of the major storylines over a wild first seven weeks of the season was an incident that involved Ronald Acuña Jr., Brian Snitker, and Jarred Kelenic.
In short, Kelenic didn’t hustle out of the box, which resulted in him being thrown out at second, a situation Acuña was benched for earlier in his career. The situations weren’t exactly the same, and Brian Snitker handled them differently. Kelenic went unpunished, which prompted this tweet from Acuña.
The tweet was deleted not long after, but it was up long enough to make national storylines out of what really was a whole lot of nothing initially.
Despite the noise, the Braves never really addressed it publicly following the tweet… until today. Ahead of Wednesday’s game against the Nationals, Ronald Acuña Jr. was available for the media, where he told reporters he apologized to both Snitker and the team for the incident, saying it came from a place of frustration. The team was struggling, and his injury left him feeling helpless.
Acuña says he has apologized to Snitker and his teammates for his social media post. He blamed the frustration he felt as he remained unavailable while the team was losing.

There’s no question it was not Acuña’s best moment, and really nobody came away from the situation looking clean. But mistakes happen, and the Braves outfielder handled it behind closed doors — like it always should have been — after the fact.
Now, we can all focus on what’s really important: The imminent return of one of the best players in baseball.
