Ronald Acuña Jr. removed from Braves game with Achilles tightness

If there’s one reason to keep watching the Braves, it’s Ronald Acuña Jr.

The Braves’ superstar right fielder has rebounded spectacularly from the ACL injury he suffered last season, entering Tuesday with a 1.012 OPS over 54 games. However, everyone in Braves Country is holding their breath at this very moment, as Acuña exited today’s game after attempting to chase a fly ball down in the outfield.

Acuña came up limping, exited the game, and immediately went into the clubhouse with a trainer. Soon after, the Braves reported the diagnosis as Achilles tightness.

I think I speak for the entire baseball world when I say, hopefully, this is just some soreness. But anytime you hear the word Achilles, the worst comes to mind.

Not only would an Achilles injury be completely devastating to the Braves’ hopes of competing next season, but it would be the third major injury Acuña has suffered in a half-decade. I don’t even want to imagine a world where that’s the case, but we are here, and it’s terrifying.

We will keep you updated as more information becomes available.
