The Atlanta Braves feature some of the league’s most talented players, yet nobody on the roster is as impactful as right fielder Ronald Acuna Jr.

The 28-year-old has built quite the individual legacy across eight years in MLB, collecting a National League Rookie of the Year Award, an NL MVP, five All-Star selections and three Silver Slugger Awards.

Acuna has battled through multiple torn ACLs, missing significant time, and has returned to form each time. In 2025, he posted a .290 batting average, .417 on-base percentage, .935 OPS, 21 home runs and 42 RBIs across 95 games, earning NL Comeback Player of the Year.

As Acuna prepares for the 2026 season, he has committed to participate in the World Baseball Classic for Team Venezuela, which means he will report to the tournament instead of joining the Braves at Spring Training.

Many of the league’s top players are choosing to participate, and Acuna will likely use the opportunity to refine his game against elite international competition.

The event also gives him a chance to reunite with fellow Venezuelan players who have established themselves in MLB, including Detroit Tigers All-Star infielder Gleyber Torres, who is also expected to suit up for the WBC.

On Wednesday, Torres announced on Instagram that he would be reviving his YouTube channel for a second season of behind-the-scenes content documenting his life as a baseball player.

Acuna quickly appeared in the comment section, leaving a message for Torres that read, “Vamos pa Miami ,” which translates to “We are going to Miami.” The comment adds further fuel to the expectation that both players will represent Venezuela together in the tournament.

Team Venezuela is scheduled to compete in Pool D of the WBC at loanDepot park in Miami, with its first game set for March 6 against the Netherlands. The club will play its pool games from March 6 through March 11 at the venue.

Acuna and Torres have known each other for years through offseason workouts and the tight-knit Venezuelan baseball community, and the chance to represent their country together adds another layer to their connection.

Both players grew up idolizing the same national heroes and now get to carry that torch themselves. For Venezuela, having two of the sport’s most dynamic talents in the same lineup brings a level of excitement the fanbase has not felt in years.

For Acuna, the WBC offers both national pride and a competitive tune-up as he looks to lead the Braves into another postseason run.
