García made the remarks in Spanish in a post shared by Wilber Sánchez on X. Translated into English, García said, “Ronald will never regret taking the $100 million. With all the injuries he has had, if he hadn’t taken that money, maybe he wouldn’t be in baseball.”

The comment offers a blunt reminder of the uncertainty players face when their careers are affected by significant injuries. Acuña has dealt with multiple major health setbacks during his career, making guaranteed money particularly valuable.

García has also been an important part of Kansas City’s lineup when healthy. The 25-year-old has hit .269 with a .324 on-base percentage, three home runs, 32 RBI and five stolen bases in 73 games this season.

Acuña’s current contract also gives Atlanta flexibility beyond the original agreement. The Braves have two options to extend the deal through 2028, each reportedly worth $17 million for the 2027 and 2028 seasons.
