Royals pull classic stunt on Jac Caglianone after first MLB home run

Jac Caglianone enjoyed a major milestone on Thursday while leading the Kansas City Royals to a win, but his teammates showed him absolutely zero love — at least for 20 seconds or so.

Caglianone hit a pair of solo home runs during the Royals' 4-1 win over the Texas Rangers at Globe Life Field in Arlington. The first homer was a towering fly ball to right-center field in the top of the second inning that traveled an estimated 387 feet.

That was the first MLB homer of Caglianone's career. When he returned to the dugout after giving Kansas City a 3-0 lead, he got the famous silent treatment. He was left to hand out imaginary high-fives until his teammates finally came over to congratulate him.

Caglianone then blasted an even deeper home run to put the Royals up 4-1 in the top of the ninth.

Caglianone, the No. 6 overall pick in the 2024 MLB Draft, was known for hitting moonshots when he played for the University of Florida. He was called up by the Royals on June 6 and had been off to a fairly slow start at the plate. Caglianone had a .196/.212/.235 slash line through 13 games entering Thursday.

Perhaps the two-homer effort will help get the former Florida Gator going.
