Seattle Mariners Catcher Cal Raleigh has been great this season. His performance last night against the Washington Nationals helped the Mariners prevail 9-1. He hit two home runs in Tuesday night’s contest. He is second in the league with 19 home runs. That is the most home runs in league history by a primary-position catcher in his team’s first 53 games of a season.
Raleigh has made another piece of history as the only player to homer from both sides of the plate in a game, homer twice from the left side of the plate, and twice from the right side in the same season. Raliegh is also 15th in the league in RBI and fifth in OPS. Will the catcher continue having a historic season for the Seattle Mariners?
Already in 2025 the @Mariners' Cal Raleigh has:
– homered from both sides of the plate in a game (4/16)
– homered twice from the left side in a game (5/2)
– homered twice from the right side in a game (tonight)He's the first catcher in MLB history to do all 3 in the same year. pic.twitter.com/jlnjsktLlS

Seattle has been good this season. They are leading the National League West at 30-23. The Mariners have been strong on offense. They are 19th in batting average, sixth in home runs, and 10th in runs scored. Raleigh leads the ballclub in many offensive categories.
Seattle’s pitching staff has been middling. They are 10th in ERA, 22nd in opposing batting average, and 19th in WHIP. Starting Pitcher Bryan Woo has been great. He is 11th in the league in ERA and seventh in WHIP. Closer Andres Munoz is also tied for the league lead in saves.
Raleigh and the Seattle Mariners return to the diamond tonight for the middle game of their three-game set against the Washington Nationals. Seattle has been good this season and will look to keep winning as the calendar turns over to June.
