Seattle Mariners Center Fielder Julio Rodriguez ended the first half of the regular season on a high note. He had 17 total bases, 4 walks, and 2 stolen bases in this weekend’s series against the Detroit Tigers. His performance over the weekend put him in rarefied air. The only other players to put up these statistics in a three-game set are Barry Bonds in 1987 and Mike Schmidt in 1975.
The star center fielder also homered in three straight games for the second time in his career. Even though Rodriguez has not been as strong as in years past, he still earned an All-Star selection. He will not be playing in the game, though. He has opted to rest for the second half of the regular season instead of participating. Will his strong series carry into the second half of the year?

Rodriguez has been one of the best players in Major League Baseball since debuting with the Seattle Mariners in 2022. He was named the Rookie of the Year that season. He is a three-time MLB All-Star, two-time Silver Slugger, and has two top-10 finishes in American League MVP voting.
Rodriguez and the Mariners return to the diamond later this week when they host the Houston Astros for a three-game series. If the star center fielder can keep playing at such a high level, the Mariners will have a successful summer.
