The Seattle Mariners evened up the series against the Houston Astros in game two, winning 5-3. Cal Raleigh hit a two-run home run in the seventh inning to break the 3-3 tie. Both teams have shown in this series why they are two of the best in the AL West. Jose Altuve continued to collect hits in the series, and the Astros led for most of the night. Who will take game three of the four game set on Saturday?

The Seattle Mariners racked up 10 hits last night and won the way they have been all season: with the long ball. Cal Raleigh went 2 for 4 and hit the go-ahead home run in the seventh. Leody Taveras and Miles Mastrobuoni also homered in the 5-3 win. Seattle continues to live and die by the long ball.
Right-hander Bryan Woo takes the mound for the Mariners in game three. He is one of the best pitchers that no one is talking about. He has only walked eight batters in the year, which is a big reason for his 0.87 WHIP. In his last start against the San Diego Padres, he pitched 7.0 innings, giving up five hits and one earned run, while striking out five.
The Houston Astros have to love what they are seeing out of Altuve despite the loss. After spending a week hitting .120, he has gone 5 for 9 in his series so far. He had two home runs in the opening game and then another three hits last night. Houston simply didn’t create many scoring opportunities last night, only going 0 for 3 with RISP.
Left-hander Framber Valdez takes the mound for the Astros in game three. In his last start against the Texas Rangers, he pitched 7.0 innings, giving up six hits and three earned runs, while striking out eight. This will be Valdez’s second start against the Mariners this season. He dominated Seattle in April, pitching 6.0 innings, giving up only two hits and no earned runs, while striking out eight.

The last two games have been very even. These two teams are very evenly matched, especially with the Houston Astros at home. I’m going to play the pitching matchup today. Woo has been dominated this season, and I expect him to do so again today.
