Should red-hot Brewers be World Series favorites?

We thought we knew what this MLB season would look like. The Los Angeles Dodgers once again loaded up after winning the World Series. They began the season 9-1 and got everyone's attention.

Then, the Detroit Tigers got hot with star pitcher Tarik Skubal and other assets who have allowed them to reach a 60-41 record — the second best in MLB going into Tuesday night's action.

But now, it's time for the Milwaukee Brewers to shine.

At 60-40, the Brewers have the best record in the game, and there is a lot to like about what is happening in Milwaukee right now.

The squad won its 11th game in a row on Monday night, a shutout win over the Seattle Mariners behind Brandon Woodruff's six scoreless innings.

It's a team that began the season with a -32 run differential in their first four games, an MLB record for the worst start ever. The Brewers are +123 in their last 95 games.

Where do the Brewers stand in terms of favorites to make a deep playoff push this fall? Or rather, where should they stand?

Right now, the Brewers are +1600 to win the World Series, according to FanDuel. This is eighth in the league, with the Dodgers (+220) leading and teams like the Philadelphia Phillies (+950), New York Yankees (+800) and Mets (+1200) hanging in the balance.

A lot will be told in a key series against the Chicago Cubs visit American Family Field. The two teams are in a heated race to win the NL Central, and have the best and fourth-best records in MLB. Sensational rookie Jacob Misiorowski is expected to pitch in the series opener.

Misiorowski is also expected to pitch on Tuesday night in Seattle, a 9:40 p.m. start at T-Mobile Park. The 23-year-old rookie is making his first appearance since the All-Star break, which he played in despite only throwing 25.2 innings. It's the fewest amount of innings pitched for any All-Star in baseball history.

In those 25.2 innings, the right-hander has 33 strikeouts, 11 walks, eight earned runs to sport a 2.81 ERA.

The Brewers are hot right now, but it's clear that the end of July is going to be extremely telling to how much of a contender the team truly is. The lead is just 0.5 games over the Tigers for the best record in baseball, with the Blue Jays and Cubs just one game behind the top spot.

There is one thing all baseball fans can agree on, though, and that's the fact that a fun second half of the season is underway in MLB standings, especially in the NL Central.
