Aaron Judge has long been considered the gold standard for the New York Yankees, and now, he'll have a gold patch to prove it.
Major League Baseball is introducing a special Gold MLB logo patch for the 2025 season to celebrate the 2024 award winners as part of a collaboration between Topps, Fanatics, and Nike. That means Judge, the reigning American League MVP, will don the exclusive emblem on the back of his Yankees jersey all season.
The patch is reserved for MVPsstar Shohei Ohtani and Judge, Cy Young winners Chris Sale and Tarik Skubal, and Rookies of the Year Paul Skenes and Luis Gil. Only these six players will wear the distinctive mark throughout the 2025 campaign, symbolizing their dominance and excellence on the field.
Since his historic 62-home run season in 2022, Judge has remained the Yankees' centerpiece and a force at the plate. He earned his second career MVP award in 2024, two years after claiming his first, by setting a franchise and AL home run record that stood for 61 years.
In 2024, he came up shy of that mark, hitting 58 homers—four more than Shohei Ohtani—to lead the majors. It wasn't just power, though. Judge maintained a .322/.458/.701 slash line in 158 games. His 1.087 OPS highlighted the dangerous combination of power and on-base ability, making him one of baseball's elite hitters.
According to FanGraphs, he posted a 11.2 WAR, which is the best in baseball.
The gold patch won't just be for show. The patches will become collector's items.
After the season, 10 authenticated game-worn patches from each player will be transformed into exclusive, autographed Logoman trading cards. Fans can also purchase retail versions of the gold-patched jerseys, making them a must-have for collectors.
Judge now has another reminder of his elite status. In 2025, the Yankees captain will wear the gold patch every time he steps on the field, a reminder that he remains at the top of his game.
