The 2025 MLB Draft is currently underway and the St. Louis Cardinals used the fifth overall pick to select Liam Doyle from the University of Tennessee. Doyle this season, made 19 appearances, 17 of which have come as starts, going 10-4 with a 3.20 ERA, a 0.99 WHIP, and 164 strikeouts in 95.2 innings. The 164 strikeouts were the second most in the country. He was also named the Southeastern Conference player of the year.

In his first college season at Coastal Carolina, he made 23 appearances, seven of which came as starts. Doyle went 3-1 with a 4.15 ERA, a 1.12 WHIP, and 69 strikeouts in 56.1 innings. That summer, he played for Bourne of the Cape Cod Baseball League. In two starts, he didn’t record a decision. Doyle posted a 3.12 ERA, a 1.39 WHIP, and had eight strikeouts in 8.2 innings. The next season, he transferred to Ole Miss. Doyle made 16 appearances, 11 of which came as starts, going 3-4. He posted a 5.73 ERA, a 1.26 WHIP, and had 84 strikeouts in 55 innings. He made 58 appearances in his college career 35 came as starts. Doyle went 16-9 with a 4.13 ERA, a 1.10 WHIP, and 317 strikeouts in 207 innings.
