The Toronto Blue Jays’ pitching depth thinned out on Monday.

Per the Minor League Baseball transaction log, right-hander Tanner Andrews has elected free agency.

Originally selected in the 10th round of the 2018 MLB draft by the Miami Marlins, Andrews spent seven seasons in the minor leagues before being signed by the Blue Jays to a minor-league contract on November 26, 2025.

After being invited to spring training as a non-roster player, Andrews opened the season in Triple-A with the Buffalo Bisons. Andrews impressed over April with the Bisons, as across nine outings, he went 2-0 with a 2.19 ERA and a 1.54 WHIP. Andrews struck out 15 batters across 12.1 innings pitched and limited opponents to a .217 average during that span.

As the calendar flipped to May, Andrews continued to impress while working out of the Bisons’ bullpen, highlighted by seven consecutive scoreless outings to open the month. On May 25, Andrews’ success was rewarded, as the Blue Jays selected the 30-year-old’s contract for his first call to the majors.

Andrews made his MLB debut later that night and worked a scoreless ninth inning during an 8-2 loss against the Miami Marlins. With a beat-up bullpen, Andrews was thrust into action the following night, and the right-hander threw two shutout innings, while picking up his first career strikeout when he got Marlins left fielder Heriberto Hernández swinging on an 87.4 MPH splitter to close out an 8-1 Blue Jays victory.

After pitching two days in a row, Andrews was optioned back to Buffalo on May 27, and later designated for assignment on June 4. Andrews remained in the organization following being DFA’d and closed out the year strong by appearing in 37 games with the Bisons and going 5-0 with a 2.05 ERA and a 1.36 WHIP. Over 44 innings, Andrews struck out 48 batters and limited opponents to a .195 average before heading to the injured list on August 23 with a season-ending injury.
