Tarik Skubal Believes Dodgers’ Dynasty Is Not Over

The Los Angeles Dodgers’ defeat in the National League Championship Series has raised questions of the 2026 season being the end of their current championship window.

The age of the Dodgers’ roster is the chief concern among their detractors. But impending free agent Tarik Skubal believes L.A.’s current core still has more left in the tank, according to Maddie Lee of the L.A. Times.

“I don’t feel that at all,” Skubal said. “It’s hard to win the World Series, and this group has done it the last two seasons. Obviously, not this year, but … I think that this group is incredibly talented. And the preparation and the work ethic that this group has — I don’t buy into that narrative.”

While the players currently under contract for the 2027 inspire a certain level of confidence, it will be up to the front office to address the underlying issues of the roster that caused a disappointing end to their quest for a three-peat.

In short, upgrades are needed in left field, second base and the bench. But the biggest needle mover for the Dodgers roster is how much they are able to recover from the cumulative fatigue of the past three seasons.

After the Dodgers found themselves on the wrong end of an NLCS sweep, Max Muncy surmised multiple long years stacked on top of each other eventually took its toll. Muncy said this eventually led to the team running out of steam in the NLCS against the Milwaukee Brewers.

The Dodgers’ front office can help keep their aging core fresh next season by investing in a deeper bench. This can be accomplished either through their highly regarded farm system, free agency or the trade market.

The biggest roadblock to the prospect route is determining if they are Major League ready. The Dodgers were able to correctly identify Josue De Paula’s readiness, which lends credibility to whatever decisions they make for next season.

On the other hand, recruiting outside help falls upon the scouting department to identify which players can make the team better than they were in 2026.

Whether or not Skubal will be a part keeping the Dodgers’ dynasty alive in 2027 is yet to be seen. The left-hander obviously makes the team better and the Dodgers presumably will have some level of interest in re-signing him.

However, the viability of this signing may hinge on the economics set forth in a new collective bargaining agreement (CBA).

Blake Snell wants Dodgers to re-sign Tarik Skubal

While Skubal declined to comment on his future following the Dodgers’ loss in Game 4 of the NLCS, Blake Snell had no such qualms.

Snell said he “would love nothing more” than for Skubal to re-sign with the Dodgers.
