The 'A.L. Batting Champions' quiz

It may have taken until the final day of the regular season and come with an 81-81 record, but the Houston Astros secured yet another American League West title and spot in the MLB Playoffs.

Led by potential A.L. MVP Yordan Alvarez – who finished with an MLB-best .316 batting average to go with 42 home runs and 106 RBI – the Astros face off against the Chicago White Sox in the Wild Card.

Despite their lackluster record, Alvarez and Co. bring far more postseason experience into the series against a White Sox team that hasn’t made the playoffs since 2021 and lost a combined 324 games over the three previous seasons. In a wide-open American League playoff field, it wouldn’t be surprising to see the Astros make some noise.

Which brings us to today’s quiz. While 2026 was the third time in his eight-year career Alvarez has hit over .300 for an entire season, but the first time he’s taken home a batting title. With that being said, can you name every American League batting champion since 1990?
