Following a hard evening of Atlanta sports, today is a new day, and there’s reason to be excited. It’s Spencer Strider Bump Day, as the Braves officially returned the hard-throwing righty from his rehab assignment, optioning Zach Thompson to Triple-A Gwinnett in a corresponding move.
The #Braves today returned RHP Spencer Strider from his rehabilitation assignment and reinstated him from the injured list. The club optioned RHP Zach Thompson to Triple-A Gwinnett following last night’s game.

It’s been 376 days since Strider last toed the rubber of a major league game for the Braves, and it couldn’t have happened at a better moment. Strider will try to be a stopper as the Braves look to take two of three from the Blue Jays before they return to Truist Park.
It’s almost unfair to put that kind of pressure on Strider in his return, but he wouldn’t want it any other way, and I’m not sure there’s a pitcher more prepared to hit the ground running after such a serious injury.
Welcome back, Spencer Strider!
