The 'MLB Home Run Derby champions' quiz

Happy 55th birthday to five-time MLB All-Star, two-time Silver Slugger, 2002 Home Run Derby champion and 2000 American League MVP, Jason Giambi!

Giambi played for four teams over his 20-year MLB career, spending the vast majority of his time with the Oakland Athletics and New York Yankees. While he got limited playing time as a rookie in 1995, he took advantage of his first full-time opportunity in 1996 by hitting .291 with 20 home runs and 79 RBIs. In his 2000 MVP-campaign, he mashed 43 home runs while driving in 137 and leading the Major Leagues in walks (137) and on-base percentage (.476).

After becoming known as one of the premier power hitters in baseball, the New York Yankees signed him as a free agent ahead of the 2002 season. In his first season in pinstripes he posted his second-career 40-home run season and beat Sammy Sosa to win the Home Run Derby. He’d play seven years in the Bronx, arriving just after their dynasty of the late-90s collapsed and leaving just before they won their 27th championship in 2009.

Which brings us to today’s quiz. How many of the players to win the Home Run Derby since 1985 can you name in five minutes?

Good luck!
