The 'MLB wins-leaders since 2000' quiz

Happy 37th birthday to three-time MLB All-Star and 2026 wins leader, Sonny Gray!

Gray made his MLB debut in 2013 with the Oakland A’s, and after 4+ strong seasons (including an All-Star game in 2015)  in the Bay Area, was dealt to the New York Yankees at the 2017 trade deadline. Things didn’t go well for him in the Bronx, but he’s been one of the most consistent pitchers in the Big Leagues in the almost decade since he’s been gone. 

He recorded his first 200-strikeout season with the Cincinnati Reds in 2019, and has since done so with the St. Louis Cardinals as well. This year, he led the Boston Red Sox pitching staff – and all of baseball – with 18 wins, but was removed earlier than he would have liked from their Wild Card series loss to the Yankees. 

Heading into his 15th MLB season, Gray will be one of the more highly-coveted free agents available after declining his option to remain with the Red Sox in 2027.
