After coming within one game of winning his third-career World Series, veteran Max Scherzer is returning to the Toronto Blue Jays for another run. Scherzer and the Blue Jays agreed to a one-year, $3 million contract for the 41 year old to pitch in his 19th MLB season in 2026.
Scherzer is a sure-fire future Hall of Famer, but is coming off a season shortened by injury and a career-high 5.19 ERA in 17 regular season starts. He did raise his game in the playoffs, making three starts and allowing six earned runs while striking out 11 in 14 1/3 innings while earning a win against Seattle in the ALCS.
Which brings us to today’s quiz. Scherzer has been one of the most intimidating pitchers of his generation, if not all-time, racking up 3,489 career-strikeouts and eclipsing 250 K’s on four occasions. With that being said, can you name the pitchers in MLB’s Live-Ball Era (since 1920) with multiple 250-strikeout seasons can you name in five minutes?
Good luck!
