The Subway Series Finale Just Got a Little More Interesting

Juan Soto has been in the crosshairs all weekend. In his first trip back to the Bronx after bolting the New York Yankees to join the Mets, he's been booed and jeered at playoff-level volumes.

ESPN’s Sunday Night Baseball broadcast wants to get a feel of that. So, for the  Subway Series finale Sunday night, Soto will be mic’d up, offering fans an unfiltered glimpse into what this weekend has been like to be one of the most hated men in the Bronx.

Soto's return to Yankee Stadium has been met with thunderous boos. The Bleacher Creatures, who showered him with love when he wore pinstripes, turned their backs on him when he ran out to right field for the first time on Friday. Then they didn't let up heckling him the rest of the night.

Despite the hostile reception, he has maintained his composure, even doffing his batting helmet to acknowledge the fans. He pointed at the Bleacher Creatures as he ran to right field and even tossed a ball into the stands.....but it was thrown back.

His mic'd-up segment should be interesting. It will give a glimpse into what it was like to be at the center of the storm, and provide real-time reactions and insights from the outfielder.

If we can hear him at all through the jeers and taunts as he plays in right field at Yankee Stadium.

For Yankees fans, it presents an opportunity to hear directly from the player whom they once adored and they now despise as he plays fortheir crosstown rivals. This was their first chance to let Soto know how they felt about his decision to leave in person.

And they have taken full advantage of it.
