The 'Three-HR playoff games' quiz

Happy 40th birthday to three-time World Series champion, two-time National League All-Star and 2012 World Series MVP, Pablo “Kung Fu Panda,” Sandoval!

Sandoval made his Major League Debut with the San Francisco Giants and was a stalwart member of the dominant “Even Year Giants” of the 2010’s, winning the World Series in 2010, 2012 and 2014.

The Venezuela native was the Giants everyday third baseman from 2009-14, with his best seasons coming in 2011 and 2012 when he made back-to-back All-Star teams. In 2011 he hit a career-high 23 home runs and .315 on the season, racking up 6.0 Wins Above Replacement.

In 2012 he went on a legendary run in the postseason, hitting .364 with six home runs, 13 RBI and 24 hits in 16 games. Three of those blasts came in Game 1 of the World Series against the Detroit Tigers, a series they’d go on to sweep.

Sandoval left the Giants for Boston after the 2014 title campaign, and hung around the Big Leagues for another seven rather unproductive seasons with the Red Sox and Braves with a return to San Francisco in between.

Which brings us to today’s quiz. Sandoval is one of just 12 players in MLB history to hit three home runs in a single playoff game. How many of those players can you name in five minutes?

Good luck!
