These three MLB props are a hit!

It's a new month here at Bark Bets, and we are oh so close to NFL season. Props are starting to open up for the first game of the year, but we're going to wait until we have a full menu at our disposal to give that the attention it deserves. We're still aiming to find the best bets for today, and that's why our attention is going right back to the diamond.

Bobby Witt Jr., Justin Turner & Dansby Swanson 1+ hit each (+200 FD)

We give ourselves a trio of players from throughout the day of baseball, giving us some skin in the game for hours. Some call that a sweat, we call it some good old fashioned fun.

Bobby Witt Jr. has a hit in 10 of his past 11 games and in 21 of his last 30. Johnny Cueto is on the mound this afternoon for Chicago, and in five plate appearances, Witt has a pair of singles and a walk against the White Sox righty. His average goes up nearly 30 points when facing off against a RHP, and he's had solid success against Chicago this year, recording a hit in 13 of 17 games against the team. Cueto has allowed five or more hits in 12 straight starts, and Kansas City whacked him 9 times back on Aug. 10. Witt should get his chances, especially with Cueto not being much of a strikeout pitcher.

Justin Turner is hitting .500 off Chris Bassitt in six plate appearances, knocking a pair of singles and a double against the Mets starter. Bassitt has had his issues lately on the mound, allowing 15 hits in his past two starts. The Dodgers DH comes into this one riding a 10-game hitting streak, piling up 16 total in that stretch. Turner has a hit in 24 of his last 30 games.

Dansby Swanson has seen Colorado pitcher Chad Kuhl eight times, batting .571 against him. Swanson is hitting .279 against RHP this year and has a hit in 21 of his past 30 games. Swanson did not record a hit yesterday, and the last three times he was held hitless, he followed it up next game with a base knock. Kuhl consistently gives up hits, allowing five-plus in 15 of his last 16 starts.

Enjoy the Thursday slate of baseball! In one week, we'll be highlighting Bills-Rams ...

In the news ...

Serena wins again at the U.S. Open — We should probably join the ride with Serena Williams before it's too late. Wednesday night saw the tennis legend take down No. 2 ranked Anett Kontaveit in three sets to advance to the third round of the U.S. Open. After the match, Williams was clearly moved by the support and said she is in no rush to retire now, alluding to her announcement that this major tournament would be her last. The 40-year-old will face off against Alja Tomljanovic in the third round on Friday. Williams is now +1400 to win it all, up from +2200 earlier this week. Serena is a -160 favorite to best Tomljanovic on Friday.

College Football Week 1 gets going tonight — We had the "soft opening" of the college football season last week, but now we're really getting into the action. There's 16 games tonight, eight tomorrow, and then a full slate of Saturday football this weekend. Yardbarker has you covered with college football bets all year long, including picks and previews for 25 games this week. We also have 15 players to watch if you're one to bet on player props at the college ranks. We've got our eyes on Stetson Bennett and the defending champion Georgia Bulldogs. They open their season against No. 11 Oregon. We're intrigued that the Ducks' new coach was the Bulldogs defensive coordinator for the past three seasons, which has us opting for Oregon +17 on Saturday.

Russell Wilson inks contract extension, readies for a big year with Denver — Russell Wilson signed a massive five-year extension with the Denver Broncos this morning, valued at $245 million. Russ is now behind only Aaron Rodgers as the highest-paid QB in the league. A big year could be coming for Wilson and his Broncos weapons in a loaded AFC West. Wilson is +1400 to win his first MVP award.
