The New York Mets signed Juan Soto ahead of the 2025 campaign to forge a devastating 1-2 punch at the top of their lineup. But the pair reportedly had a falling out with each other as the Mets dramatically lost out on a playoff berth. Moreover, Soto and Francisco Lindor shared an awkward interaction in full public view during the Mets’ Opening Day festivities earlier this year.
According to Jon Heyman of The New York Post, the tension between Juan Soto and Francisco Lindor has not subsided as yet. He feels the Mets must repair the relationship between their two top superstars to improve the performance of the team. Although they don’t consider each other foes, Soto and Lindor are not speaking to each other in the clubhouse.
“I think they’ve got to figure out how Francisco Lindor and Soto can become [friends]. No, they’re not arch enemies. They’re not at each other’s throats,” Heyman said on ‘The Show’ podcast for The Post.
“Soto has moved across the room, but they’re not speaking [to each other], as far as I can tell. I say, get them together in a room and figure it out.”

New York led the National League East at the trade deadline last year before a shocking collapse in the last two months. They missed out on a playoff spot on the last day of the regular season. The Mets followed it up with a disastrous start to the 2026 campaign. Their postseason hopes are in tatters, with the team languishing in last place in the NL East standings.
MLB insider Jon Heyman believes the New York Mets may consider trade offers for Francisco Lindor to rebuild the team for the future. The Mets need better chemistry within the team, and moving Lindor out could improve the dynamics inside the clubhouse.
“I’m not going to be shocked if Lindor is out there,” Heyman said. “I think he’s on his way to the Hall of Fame.
“There’s something wrong with the mix,” he added. “It’s probably been under-reported in the press.”
Juan Soto is having an outstanding campaign despite the hugely underwhelming showing from the Mets. He leads their lineup with 1.5 bWAR despite missing a bunch of games through injury. On the other hand, Francisco Lindor had a slow start to the campaign after missing spring training due to surgery. The Mets placed him on the IL with a calf strain at the back end of April.
