With the 2026 MLB season underway, it is only right to give some player predictions. This season is very anticipated by fans after coming up short, just eight outs away from Seattle’s first-ever World Series. This season could hopefully be everything that a fan wants, and here are some specific players to look out for.
Since his debut in 2022, it has been said that Julio Rodriguez can be an MVP player. He has always had glimpses of being that caliber of a player, but never put it all together. Julio has had a 20/20 season every year since joining the league. That is four straight years with at least 20 home runs and 20 stolen bases. This year, it wouldn’t be surprising if he had a 40/40 season. This is the season that he finally puts it all together. With struggles every season between first- and second-half splits, he will be able to string together a solid first half and continue with his usual MVP-like second half.
Bryan Woo has turned his name into one of the top young pitchers in this league. With a rotation full of great arms it can get easy to get lost in the success of the others. But Woo is different, possessing great movement on fastballs, and elite command with every pitch that he has. In 25, Woo had a 2.94 ERA, 0.93 WHIP, and 198 strikeouts in 30 starts. However, he suffered an injury late in the season, hurting his playing time leading into the postseason. Don’t be shocked if this season he finishes with a sub-2.30 ERA and 200+ strikeouts. This can put him up with the elite pitchers in this league, especially with playing in a tough division.
Andres Munoz has always been a rock-solid, reliable closer who throws 100+. Sometimes he does have the fans nervous with his walks and at times wild command. But he is the guy who always gets the job done in the end. Munoz had a career year last season with 38 saves and a 1.73 ERA. With the Mariners known for their close games, he will have a good amount of opportunities. Every year, Muny has gotten better, and with Seattle becoming a frontrunner in the division, he will be relied on more heavily. This season he has the potential for another 35+ save year and look for him to have a sub 1.00 ERA. Last season, the Mariners were known for their one-run game wins; this season might be similar, and he will be the reason.
Although this isn’t a player prediction, it is a very strong one. Seattle will make their first ever World Series in 2026. Coming so close in last season and making changes on the roster, trading strikeout percentages for on-base percentages. They have what some consider the best starting rotation in baseball. The writing is on the wall for this team. Everyone is bought in, and they couldn’t be stronger. This team wants it badly. Seattle has always been a “could be good” team, but this season everyone knows that they are. The American League should look out for the Mariners, who had a taste of the postseason success and are looking to come back for it all.
