Three potential landing spots for Adolis Garcia

On Nov. 21, the Texas Rangers decided in a surprising move to non-tender outfielder Adolis Garcia. The 32-year-old was named ALCS MVP en route to the club's first World Series title in 2023. He is also a former Gold Glove Award winner and a two-time All-Star.

However, Garcia began declining after the Rangers' championship run, posting a .684 OPS over 154 games while managing 25 homers and 85 RBI in 2024. He followed that up with the worst offensive season of his career in 2025, hitting just 19 home runs with 75 RBI and a .665 OPS. Garcia dealt with an ankle and quad strain in the second half of the season, limiting him to 135 games.

The Rangers determined they had seen all they needed to see of Garcia, despite his contributions to their first championship. He's still an intriguing option for teams to consider this offseason, as his 141 homers since 2021 rank in the top-20 in the league. Garcia offers solid defense in right field as well.

Here are three teams that could benefit from Garcia's skills.

Cincinnati Reds

After narrowly making the playoffs and quickly being eliminated by the eventual World Champion Los Angeles Dodgers in 2025, Cincinnati's flaws were evident. One of the most prominent is their lack of power in the starting lineup. Furthermore, the Reds' young core would greatly benefit from having an experienced veteran on their team. Garcia meets both of these needs. He would bring a veteran presence to the clubhouse, postseason experience and a power bat that would strengthen the starting nine.

Detroit Tigers

Like the Reds, the Tigers could use an experienced power bat like Garcia on their roster. With an average lineup age of 26.7 — the seventh youngest in the league — and a strong desire to win, Garcia would be an excellent signing by Detroit. The Tigers have been eliminated in the ALDS the past two seasons, and with back-to-back American League Cy Young Award winner Tarik Skubal heading their rotation, the team would like to do right by him and get him some more hardware. Adding Garcia, a former World Series champ, to the mix could help Detroit get over the hump in 2026.

Philadelphia Phillies

Should the Phillies not re-sign Kyle Schwarber in free agency, Garcia would be an ideal rebound. Plus, with the club set to part ways with outfielder Nick Castellanos this offseason, Philadelphia would have an opening in right field. Garcia would provide Gold Glove-caliber defense to an outfield that desperately needs it, and somewhat make up for the offensive hole left by Schwarber, although that may be wishful thinking on the Phillies' part. If Garcia can return to his 2023 form, it could be a smart move by Philadelphia.
