Tigers Bring in Player After Riley Greene News

The Detroit Tigers are preparing for the possibility of being without Riley Greene after the All-Star outfielder exited Tuesday's win over the Cleveland Guardians with right hamstring tightness.

Jason Beck of MLB .com reported Wednesday that outfielder Corey Julks arrived at Comerica Park while the Tigers awaited the results of Greene's medical evaluation. Julks is expected to provide immediate depth if Detroit decides to place Greene on the injured list.

Greene left Tuesday's 6-4 victory after experiencing tightness in his right hamstring. Manager A.J. Hinch said the outfielder was undergoing testing Wednesday before the club makes a decision on his availability.

Detroit enters Wednesday at 59-60, 2.5 games behind the first-place Chicago White Sox in the American League Central. Greene has played a major role in keeping the Tigers in the division race, batting .273 with 16 home runs and 65 runs scored this season.

Julks signed a minor league contract with Detroit before the season and has already appeared in 11 major league games in 2026, batting .236 with one home run. His arrival gives Hinch another experienced option in the outfield if Greene misses time.

The added depth is especially important because Detroit's outfield has already been hit by injuries this season. Kerry Carpenter, Matt Vierling, Wenceel Pérez and Parker Meadows have all spent time on the injured list, limiting the club's healthy options.

The Tigers are expected to determine Greene's status after reviewing Wednesday's medical tests. Until then, Julks remains on hand as Detroit continues its push to gain ground in one of baseball's tightest division races.
