The Detroit Tigers and Seattle Mariners split the first two games of the ALDS, with both games finishing with an identical 3–2 score.
The series has shifted to Comerica Park for Game 3 as both clubs look to force the other on the brink of elimination with a trip to the ALCS on the line.
The Tigers will be sending out Jack Flaherty, who impressed in his last postseason start against the Cleveland Guardians, tossing 4 2/3 innings, allowing just one run and striking out four. On the mound for the Mariners will be Logan Gilbert, who had an impressive regular season, posting a 3.44 ERA and 173 strikeouts through 131 innings of work.
Game 3 of the ALDS was scheduled to begin at 4:08 p.m. ET on Tuesday and air on FS1, but rain in the area cast doubt on whether that start time would hold. Given the stakes, the game is still expected to be played, though it will be delayed.
The Tigers announced the change on X and said, “Today’s Game 3 of the ALDS will begin in a delay due to inclement weather in the area. Updates will be provided when available.”

Fortunately for both clubs, the game is expected to be played as the weather forecast on Monday put Game 3’s status in doubt. “Things look much more promising than they did 24 hours ago. We're going to play. We don't know when we're going to start,” Tigers manager A.J. Hinch said pregame (h/t Adam Jude of The Seattle Times). Future updates on the game’s updated start time will be provided.
Both the Tigers and Mariners are looking to advance to the ALCS for the first time in over a decade. Seattle has not reached the championship series since 2001, while Detroit’s last appearance came in 2013. Whenever Game 3 takes place, the winner will take a commanding lead in the series.
