The Detroit Tigers received an encouraging update on All-Star outfielder Riley Greene ahead of Monday’s series opener against the Tampa Bay Rays.
Greene has returned to Detroit and will begin base-running and physical conditioning work at Comerica Park as he continues recovering from a right hamstring injury.
The latest update was reported by Evan Woodbery on X, providing a positive development in Greene’s recovery.
Greene suffered the hamstring injury earlier this month and has remained sidelined while working through his recovery. His return to running and conditioning marks a notable progression, although the Tigers have not provided a firm timetable for his return.

He had been rehabbing at the team’s facility in Lakeland during the Tigers’ road trip.
Before landing on the injured list, Greene was having another productive season for Detroit, batting .273 with a .366 on-base percentage, 16 home runs and 54 RBIs in 117 games.
The Tigers have struggled without one of their most important offensive pieces, entering Monday’s matchup against Tampa Bay on a five-game losing streak.
Greene’s eventual return could provide a significant boost to a Detroit lineup that has struggled to consistently produce runs during its recent slide. The club will likely remain cautious as he works through the next stages of his rehabilitation.
For now, the focus is on getting Greene back to full strength rather than rushing him into game action. His return to on-field conditioning is an encouraging sign, but the Tigers will have to determine when he is ready to resume baseball activities at full intensity.
