Detroit Tigers slugger Miguel Cabrera became the 28th player in history to join the 500-homer club on Sunday.
The 38-year-old hit the milestone with a blast off Toronto Blue Jays pitcher Steven Matz in the sixth inning at Rogers Centre. The homer tied the game 1-1.

Cabrera is also just the ninth player in MLB history with 500-plus home runs and a .300-plus batting average, according to MLB Stats.
Few players have been able to maintain such a high average and reach the 500 HR mark.

Cabrera is the first Venezuelan to join the 500 home run club. He is also 45 hits shy of reaching the 3,000-hit club, which includes just 32 players.
Members of the 500-homer club include Barry Bonds, Hank Aaron, Babe Ruth, Willie Mays, Ken Griffey Jr., David Ortiz, Albert Pujols, Alex Rodriguez, Jim Thome and Gary Sheffield.
Cabrera, a future Hall of Famer, entered Sunday's contest hitting .311/.388/.534 in his 19th Major League Baseball season, his 14th with the Tigers.
He is a two-time MVP, 11-time All-Star, seven-time Silver Slugger and two-time Major League Player of the Year. He also won the Triple Crown in 2012 and World Series in 2003 with the Marlins.
