Trent Grisham’s injury diagnosis could be season-ending blow

The New York Yankees were dealt a tough blow when Trent Grisham went down with an injury, and his official diagnosis is not good news after being placed on the 10-day injured list.

“Trent Grisham has a Grade 2 hamstring strain, Aaron Boone said. He may be out for the rest of the regular season,” Bryan Hoch of MLB.com wrote on X, formerly Twitter.

Grisham suffered the injury Friday night against the New San Diego Padres.

The injury is no doubt a big blow for the Yankees, especially if Grisham has to miss the rest of the season. This season, he’s hitting .211 with 18 homers and 59 RBIs. They’re also looking to stay in front of the Boston Red Sox in the standings, as well as trying to catch the Tampa Bay Rays at the No. 1 seed.

It feels like it’s been hard for the Yankees to get everybody on the field at the same time this season. Just as Grisham went down, there are rumblings that Aaron Judge could be returning soon after missing the past few months with a rib injury.

Manager Aaron Boone was asked about Judge’s status, and he had a cryptic response about his star player’s return.

“I don’t know. We’ll see,” Boone said.

At this point, it seems like the Yankees will be getting Judge back sooner rather than later, and that’s perfect timing before the playoffs. Even though they may not catch the Rays, if they keep winning, they’ll be able to get a playoff spot to make a run.
