The Minnesota Twins are playing the first game of a four-game series vs the Tampa Bay Rays tonight. Minnesota jumped out to an early lead, thanks to two home runs in the first two innings.
The first came via Royce Lewis, who hit a solo bomb in the first inning. Then, in the second inning, a Trevor Larnach home run (with an exit velocity of 112 MPH) drove three more runners in. But that wasn’t all the damage Trevor’s HR caused.
Larnach’s blast left Tropicana Field so fast that if you blinked, you might have missed it. Just like the Rays fan in right field, who tried to catch it. Yeah, that’s right…
Not only did Larnach’s home run go right through his hands, but the unfortunate fan also failed to move his face from behind those hands, just in case of that exact scenario. The result was reminiscent of what ends a lot of MMA fights, or watching a prime Mike Tyson highlight. It happens so fast.
I’m pretty sure Trevor Larnach just killed a Rays fan in RF… pic.twitter.com/uxZd1owvrR

It’s possible Cory Provus and the Bally Sports North broadcast crew do not know what happened. Either that, or there is a gag order on speaking about it. There has been no mention of what happened on the Minnesota Twins broadcast.
In their defense, they are having technical difficulties tonight, and actually using the TV shots from Bally Sports Sun (Rays). There is someone on Twitter who claims to have seen it happen, in-person, from three sections over. He confirmed the knockout…
I hope and pray that this Rays fan is getting the medical attention he needs. Taking a baseball to the face, at that velocity, is a serious injury. If an update comes out on the fan’s condition or more videos surface, we will post them here.
