Toronto Blue Jays right-hander Trey Yesavage is currently on the 15-day injured list. Ten days ago, Yesavage underwent surgery to repair a torn meniscus in his left knee. He suffered the setback in early August after leaving a start early against the Houston Astros following his left knee buckling.
This marks the second time Yesavage has landed on the injured list this year, having previously missed time before the season started due to right shoulder inflammation, an injury that delayed his season debut until late April.
When on the mound this year, the 23-year-old has posted a 3.65 ERA with 91 strikeouts across 93 2/3 innings of work. Yesavage has struggled with command at times but still remains an effective arm for a Blue Jays team that needs him healthy and available heading into October.
On Friday, Yesavage took to Instagram to announce a special update for a meaningful moment in his personal life. Yesavage has been engaged to his fiancee Taylor Frick since November 13 of last year. The couple met while they were both students at East Carolina University.
Yesavage revealed on his Instagram story when the two would officially be tying the knot. He wrote, “3 months until I get married to my best friend ❤️❤️❤️.” He also shared a photo of the two of them holding hands from when he proposed and tagged Frick in the post.
As Yesavage awaits his special day off the field, he has also made some progress on the field.
Earlier this week he began throwing for the first time since surgery, and he still hopes to make a return before the end of the season with hopes of once again being a factor for the Blue Jays in October. Toronto will face the New York Yankees on Friday for a three-game series over the weekend.
