The Minnesota Twins acquired utility infielder Tristan Gray from the Boston Red Sox on Wednesday in exchange for minor league catcher Nate Baez.
Gray, acquired by the Red Sox from Tampa Bay in November, batted .231 with three homers and nine RBIs in 30 games for the Rays last season.
Gray, 29, spent most of last season in Charlotte with the Triple-A affiliate of the Chicago White Sox, hitting .270 with nine homers and 44 RBIs in 72 games.
Baez, 24, has batted .263 with 25 homers and 115 RBIs in parts of four seasons in the Twins' minor-league system.
Minnesota designated infielder Vidal Brujan for release or assignment to make room for Gray. Brujan was claimed off waivers from the Atlanta Braves on Jan. 14.
