Twins Make Roster Move for A’s Series Finale

The Minnesota Twins made multiple roster moves before Sunday's series finale against the Athletics, reinstating Connor Prielipp and Cole Sands from the 15-day injured list while placing rookie right-hander Mike Paredes on the injured list with a left oblique strain. The club also optioned reliever Jack Anderson to Triple-A St. Paul.

The transactions come one day after Paredes was scratched before his scheduled start, forcing Minnesota to adjust its pitching plans. Prielipp will start Sunday's rubber match against the Athletics.

Minnesota entered Sunday with a 52-54 record, sitting third in the American League Central, 3.5 games behind the first-place Chicago White Sox as it looks to gain ground in the postseason race.

Twins activated Connor Prielipp and Cole Sands from the injured list, optioned Jack Anderson to Triple-A St. Paul, and placed Mike Paredes on the injured list with an oblique strain.

According to Aaron Gleeman of The Athletic, the Twins activated both Prielipp and Sands from the injured list while placing Paredes on the 15-day IL after he suffered a left oblique strain during pregame warmups Saturday. Anderson was optioned in the corresponding move.

Prielipp returns after missing time with a blister on the middle finger of his pitching hand. The left-hander is 2-5 with a 5.00 ERA, 1.41 WHIP and 71 strikeouts over 66.2 innings in 13 starts this season.

Sands also returns after being sidelined since early May with a right forearm strain. In 12 appearances this season, the reliever has posted a 4.63 ERA with one save and 11 strikeouts across 11.2 innings.

Anderson heads back to Triple-A despite allowing no runs over 3.1 innings in three appearances since being claimed off waivers from the Boston Red Sox. His remaining minor league options made him the roster casualty as Minnesota added two fresh arms.

The Twins hope Sunday's moves will stabilize a pitching staff that has dealt with several injuries over the past week. With Joe Ryan's next start already pushed back because of arm fatigue, Minnesota will rely on Prielipp and Sands to provide much-needed depth heading into an important stretch of the season.
