The Toronto Blue Jays came one win short of capturing their first World Series title since 1993. Despite the heartbreaking end to the 2025 season, the loss was not due to first baseman Vladimir Guerrero Jr.

The 26-year-old superstar rose to the occasion on baseball’s biggest stage during the first deep postseason run of his seven-year career. Guerrero delivered one of the most dominant playoff performances in recent memory, posting a .397 batting average, .494 on-base percentage, 1.289 OPS, eight home runs and 15 RBIs. Remarkably, he hit more home runs than he had strikeouts, punching out just seven times in 73 at-bats.

In Guerrero’s final plate appearance of the year, he launched a leadoff double in the bottom of the 11th inning of Game 7 against the Los Angeles Dodgers. But the Blue Jays failed to bring him home, ending their season one run short of a championship. Still, Guerrero’s postseason breakout solidified his status as one of the game’s elite talents and gave Toronto fans hope for another run in 2026.

As Guerrero enters the offseason following Toronto’s deep playoff run, he is already making moves off the field. On December 6, loanDepot Park in Miami will host a high-profile doubleheader featuring a Celebrity Softball Game and Home Run Derby, organized by the La Gente del Barrio Foundation and headlined by Guerrero and his VG 27 Foundation.

The event is designed to unite MLB stars, celebrities and entertainers in support of community-driven causes. Proceeds will benefit both foundations and other charitable partners, highlighting Guerrero’s growing commitment to using his platform for social impact.

Guerrero and his foundation promoted the event on social media, inviting fans to join what promises to be a high-energy weekend in Miami. “Our MVP Vladdy Jr. and some of your favorite MLB stars and celebs are headed to Miami for a once-in-a-lifetime weekend. Next stop: loanDepot Park. December 6 — Home Run Derby & Celebrity Softball Game. Tickets on sale now - hit the link in bio,” Guerrero announced on Instagram.

In April, Guerrero signed a 14-year, $500 million contract extension with Toronto, and the deal is already proving to be a worthwhile investment. His 2025 campaign was one of the most dominant in postseason history, and his overall track record includes five All-Star selections and a Gold Glove Award.

At just 26 years old, Guerrero still has plenty of time to chase a championship and continue building a legacy in Toronto. The Blue Jays are expected to remain aggressive this offseason, aiming to capitalize on Guerrero’s prime and return to the World Series in 2026.
