The Arizona Diamondbacks will have a lot of storylines over the 2025 season, though the emergence of Brandon Pfaadt might be a headliner.
Before the news broke of Jordan Montgomery needing Tommy John surgery, The Arizona Diamondbacks named right-hander Pfaadt their fifth starter in the rotation to begin the regular season. Pfaadt had a coming out party during the 2023 postseason, and came on strong as well a season later. In 2024, Pfaadt ended with a 4.71 ERA. His second half of the season wasn’t as sharp as the beginning, but he did end up with 185 strikeouts on the season.
With his talents, Pfaadt could be higher up on a lot of teams pitching charts. It just so happens the Arizona Diamondbacks have a very skilled roster. The way he has embraced improving certain pitching mechanics or having adjustments during a game, truly shows he is capable of going forward for this D-Backs squad.
Everyday seems like there is room for growth, in a good way, with Pfaadt. Seeing him attack his own training and commitment to getting better every day, at just 26 years old, he can be a shining star for years to come. Over the last 2 seasons, the growth we have seen in his performance and approach has shown that he is listening, learning, and executing in all areas. Seemingly to have this confidence that you don’t normally see in the back end of the rotation, making opposing teams stressing no matter who is on the mound.
What will the 2025 season hold for Brandon Pfaadt? The D-Backs shall find out soon, as he is the probable pitcher to start Saturday, March 29th against the Chicago Cubs, per the Diamondbacks website.
