White Sox GM compares Jose Abreu to Michael Jordan

Chicago White Sox general manager Rick Hahn made an interesting comparison Wednesday when discussing what it'll be like to face former Pale Hose star Jose Abreu on Opening Day.

White Sox ace Dylan Cease, who will make his first career Opening Day start on Thursday, said that facing Abreu (whom he called a "White Sox legend") will be "interesting."

While Abreu certainly put together an impressive nine-year run in Chicago before signing with the Houston Astros in the offseason, it's been proved time and time again that you can never be too careful when making comparisons to Michael Jordan. However, Hahn is commenting on the odd sight of witnessing the 2020 AL MVP in a different uniform will be like seeing Jordan in a Washington Wizards jersey instead of in Chicago Bulls colors.

Prior to joining the defending World Series champions over the winter, Abreu had spent his entire career on the South Side. The 36-year-old three-time All-Star finished the 2022 season with a career-low 15 home runs to go with 75 RBI and a career-high 62 walks.

Abreu posted a .304/.378/.446 slash line across 601 at-bats in 157 games and finished 17th in the AL MVP voting.
