The Seattle Mariners claimed left-handed relief pitcher Sammy Peralta off waivers from the Chicago White Sox on Tuesday.

Peralta broke into the big leagues in 2023 with the Sox at age 25. The southpaw appeared in 16 games and ended the year with a 4.05 ERA, 18 strikeouts, and 11 walks over 20 innings of work in the White Sox bullpen.

However, his showing in Spring Training wasn't good enough to break camp with Chicago entering the 2024 seson. Peralta struggled in his 3.1 innings of work in Arizona, leading to the club designating him for assignment on Opening Day.

Now with the Mariners organization, Peralta will report to Triple-A Tacoma.
