The Chicago White Sox have made franchise history with their latest victory, reaching 71 wins after defeating the Minnesota Twins on Friday night.

According to OptaSTATS, the win gave Chicago the most victories ever by an MLB team immediately following three consecutive seasons with at least 100 losses. The White Sox had endured 100-plus losses in each season from 2023 through 2025 before completing their remarkable turnaround this year.

The milestone reflects just how dramatically the club has changed over the past year. Chicago entered the 2026 season facing questions about its rebuild, but has emerged as the American League Central leader with the regular season entering its final stretch.

The White Sox improved to 71-63 with Friday’s victory and maintained their position atop the division. The Cleveland Guardians entered Saturday 3.5 games behind, while the Minnesota Twins sat 7.5 games back at 64-71.

The turnaround has been fueled by contributions across the roster, with Chicago finding production from several young players while building a competitive pitching staff. Miguel Vargas has been one of the club’s key offensive contributors, entering the day with 29 home runs, 76 RBIs and a .251/.364/.497 slash line.

Chicago’s achievement is particularly striking given how recently the franchise struggled. The White Sox went 61-101 in 2023, 41-121 in 2024 and 60-102 in 2025, producing three consecutive seasons of 100 or more losses.
