The Chicago White Sox are getting their starting catcher back into tonight's lineup for the first time this season.
The White Sox are activating Kyle Teel from the 60-day injured list and optioning catcher Edgar Quero to Triple-A Charlotte. It will be Teel's season debut after the left-handed-hitting catcher battled multiple injuries earlier in the year.

The 24-year-old strained his hamstring while playing for Team Italy in the World Baseball Classic in March. Then, during a rehab assignment in May, Teel sprained the lateral collateral ligament in his right knee.
Meanwhile, Quero, who was acquired from the Los Angeles Angels in the 2023 Lucas Giolito trade, has struggled to establish himself in the majors. This season, he hit just .187 with two home runs and an unsightly .486 OPS. The 23-year-old will now have to wait for another chance to prove himself at the major league level.
In his rookie season last year, Teel made a strong first impression. He hit .273/.375/.411 with 11 doubles, eight home runs, and 35 RBI across 78 games.
Teel, of course, was part of the blockbuster Garrett Crochet trade with the Boston Red Sox in 2024. He arrived alongside Braden Montgomery, Chase Meidroth, and Wikelman Gonzalez.
Less than two years later, all four players have reached the major leagues. It's rare for every player in a large trade package to make the big leagues, let alone do it in under two years. The deal already looks like an outstanding return for White Sox GM Chris Getz in exchange for an ace-caliber pitcher.
All four players have impressed in their limited MLB action. Meidroth has been an everyday starter at second base since Opening Day, while Montgomery has risen to the occasion since his call-up to the big leagues a few weeks ago. Gonzalez, meanwhile, posted a 2.66 ERA in 16 relief appearances last season and is making his way back from injury.
The group has helped form a young core that continues to exceed expectations around the league. Entering today, the White Sox sit just one game behind the Cleveland Guardians in the AL Central and hold a 1.5-game lead for the second American League Wild Card spot.
Chicago has become one of baseball's best stories after losing more than 100 games in each of the previous three seasons.
The White Sox still have plenty to prove, but with Teel back in the lineup and Munetaka Murakami only a couple of weeks away from returning, they may not have even shown their best baseball yet.
