White Sox Place Jordan Hicks on IL, Recall Jordan Leasure

The Chicago White Sox made a bullpen move Saturday ahead of their game against the San Francisco Giants.

The team placed right-hander Jordan Hicks on the 15-day injured list with a right lat strain, retroactive to May 21. In a corresponding move, they recalled right-hander Jordan Leasure from Triple-A Charlotte.

Hicks has appeared in 20 games this season with a 5.60 ERA and has struggled with command at times. The lat strain is the latest setback for the veteran reliever after the White Sox acquired him in the offseason.

Leasure, 27, returns to the big leagues after being optioned earlier this month. He has pitched well at Charlotte recently and should step back into a middle-relief role for the White Sox.

This move gives Chicago some fresh arms in the bullpen as they try to navigate the last stretch of games on the West Coast before returning back to Chicago for a homestand beginning on Monday.
