The Chicago White Sox have received encouraging injury news after their series against the Los Angeles Dodgers, as top prospects Kyle Teel and Noah Schultz are set to officially begin rehab assignments with Triple-A Charlotte on Tuesday.

White Sox writer James Fegan posted on X that manager Will Venable confirmed both players would start their rehab work, bringing them a step closer to returning to action.

Teel has not appeared in a game this season because of a difficult stretch of injuries. The 24-year-old catcher first strained his right hamstring while playing for Team Italy during the World Baseball Classic in March. He then suffered another setback in May when he sprained the lateral collateral ligament in his right knee during a rehab assignment with Charlotte.

The injuries forced the White Sox to move Teel to the 60-day injured list. Since then, he has worked through a full recovery program and gradually increased his baseball activities.

Earlier this month, Teel said he felt very close to returning. He resumed live batting practice and participated in catching drills, running exercises, and field work without issues.

Teel entered the season as one of Chicago's top prospects after a strong 2025 campaign in the minor leagues. Across 112 games between Double-A and Triple-A last season, Teel hit .288 with 13 home runs, 78 RBIs, and an .819 OPS. His return could provide a significant boost for a White Sox catching group that has struggled offensively.

Chicago catchers have combined for one of the lowest OPS marks in Major League Baseball this season. The White Sox currently have an open spot on their 40-man roster, so they will not need to make a corresponding move when Teel is ready for activation.

On the other hand, Schultz has not pitched since May 26 because of knee tendinitis, but the 22-year-old left-hander has completed multiple bullpen sessions without any problems.

Venable said Schultz responded well during his throwing sessions and has earned clearance to begin pitching in games again. Before his injury, Schultz made eight starts and posted a 5.82 ERA over 38.2 innings.

Schultz struck out 33 batters but also issued 22 walks. He also dominated hitters throughout much of his professional career before this season. In 2024, Schultz recorded a 1.48 ERA with 73 strikeouts across 61 innings between High-A and Double-A.

The White Sox will closely monitor both players in Charlotte over the coming days. If they continue progressing without setbacks, both prospects could move closer to returning and helping the organization before the end of the season.
