The MLB season stretches over a six-month period from spring to autumn, with another month for the postseason games. Therefore, it encompasses several important occasions and holidays on the calendar, such as the 4th of July. With multiple games scheduled for almost every day during this period, the opportunity arises to mark these moments with special gear.
This weekend in the MLB, players will don green hats and socks on the field throughout their games from May 15 to May 17 in recognition of Armed Forces Day. This year, Armed Forces Day will be celebrated nationally on May 16. The distinct attire is a gesture of tribute to the military forces.

Armed Forces Day falls on the third Saturday in the month of May each year. Former President Harry Truman established it in 1950 as a way for civilians to offer gratitude to the military personnel for their service to the country.
The special design for the MLB hats for Armed Forces Day this year will feature olive green as a base color over the entire piece. The team logo is displayed on the crown in shades of green, with white for contrast.
