The Milwaukee Brewers have become dependable regular-season contenders, but October has often brought a different story. After finishing with baseball’s best record, they have another chance to prove this team can turn sustained success into a championship run.
Milwaukee won a franchise-record 103 games and secured the National League’s top seed. Now the Brewers face the San Diego Padres in the NLDS, with a roster MLB Network’s Jon Morosi believes is better equipped for the challenge this time around.

“Different personnel. They have new arrivals… [Cooper] Pratt was not on the team. [Luis] Lara was not on the team… It’s a different Brewers team; it’s a better Brewers team,” Morosi said on MLB Network. “But can we get a five-game series between the Padres and Brewers? So many stars in this series.”
Morosi also highlighted Garrett Mitchell and David Hamilton, pointing to the additional options Milwaukee brings into this postseason. The argument is about how the roster has evolved, rather than expecting the same group to produce a different result.
The biggest reason for optimism might be Jacob Misiorowski. One year further into his career, the right-hander has become an NL Cy Young favorite after leading baseball with a 1.80 ERA, 0.80 WHIP, and 252 strikeouts. An ace pitching at that level gives Milwaukee a chance to establish control immediately.
The Brewers did make progress last year, beating the Cubs in the NLDS before being swept by the Dodgers in the NLCS. That finish showed how much work remained against the league’s best.
San Diego will provide another demanding test. The Padres are hot. But with Misiorowski leading the pitching staff and more options throughout the roster, Milwaukee has reasons to believe its regular-season dominance can carry deeper into October.
The next step is proving it against the Padres.
