So much for a boring World Series, huh? Corey Seager hit a two-run, game-tying home run in the bottom of the ninth inning to send Game 1 to extra innings, and Adolis Garcia continued his magical postseason with a walk-off homer in the 11th. The Texas Rangers will look to take a 2-0 lead over the Arizona Diamondbacks in Game 2 Saturday night.
Let's dive into the second game of the series and find some winning bets along the way.
The Diamondbacks blew a major opportunity in Game 1. Arizona touched Nathan Eovaldi for five earned runs and chased him after just 4.2 innings, but the lineup wasn't able to score against a mediocre Rangers bullpen. The D-backs let Texas hang around too long and lost in heartbreaking fashion to fall behind in the World Series.
That was their chance to steal home field in the championship series, but now the momentum is squarely with the Rangers. Texas should be able to produce some early runs against Merrill Kelly, who gave up three home runs in his first start against the Philadelphia Phillies in the NLCS.
Rangers starter Jordan Montgomery has given up no runs in three of his five appearances this postseason, and the Diamondbacks have a .292 on-base percentage and a .366 slugging percentage against lefties in the playoffs.
What are we doing here?
Over his last seven games, Garcia is 13-28 with six home runs and 17 RBIs. He's recorded at least one RBI in 10 of Texas' 13 playoff games this year, yet he's still plus money to knock in a run in Game 2? Either oddsmakers start respecting the dominant run Garcia is on, or we're going to keep riding him to produce runs.
