This will be the third time the MLB All-Star game has been held at Wrigley Field and the first time since 1990. Wrigley hosted another in 1962, and the very first MLB All-Star game was held at Comiskey Park, the home of the White Sox from 1910-90, in 1933.
The news comes the same day a city ordinance in Chicago was introduced to beef up security measures around the stadium. The Cubs, the city of Chicago, and the state of Illinois are expected to dedicate more than $30 million to the project. Levine said this was the last hurdle needed to get the Cubs' bid over the finish line to host an All-Star game.
In the weeks prior to the All-Star game, typically held in the middle of July, fans vote on which players they think deserve to start and hold reserve spots in the Midsummer Classic. This year, the event will be hosted by the Atlanta Braves at Truist Park and the 2026 event will be at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia.
In addition to the best players from each league competing against each other in a standard nine-inning game, the All-Star week festivities include the iconic home run derby.
