Yankees' Aaron Boone Announces Ex-Cubs RHP Marcus Stroman Update

The Chicago Cubs had Marcus Stroman in their rotation during the 2022 and 2023 seasons. The right-hander threw the baseball at a decent level, posting a 3.50 ERA in 2022 and a 3.95 ERA in 2023.

However, currently pitching for the New York Yankees, the veteran hasn't performed as well as the Yankees had hoped, and as a result, many fans want him traded. The issue is that the Yankees don't have much of a say in moving him due to his contract, which no team in Major League Baseball seems to want to take.

Factor that in with his knee injury, and things aren't looking great for a Yankees team that wants to move on from him sometime soon.

Before dealing with his knee injury, Stroman was brutal, posting an 11.57 ERA in just 9.1 innings.

And with that knee injury, Aaron Boone, the Yankees' skipper, told reporters on Monday that his knee is still bothering him, and he likely won't return in the near future.

"Marcus Stroman is still 'feeling some things' in his knee, per Boone, so does not sound like it will just be a minimum stay on the IL," Greg Joyce of the NY Post reported.

Many Yankees fans won't be too upset about hearing that Stroman could be out for a few more starts. The hope is for the Yankees to trade him, at least that's how many fans feel.

Unlike his time with the Cubs, the 33-year-old hasn't been a league-average pitcher, and Yankees fans, like the Cubs, will let players know when they aren't performing up to expectations.
