Yankees’ Aaron Judge gets 100% real on recent struggles

The New York Yankees are still very much alive in the AL East, but Aaron Judge knows the offense needs more from him. Judge offered a blunt assessment after another quiet stretch at the plate, as the Yankees’ AL East chase grows tighter behind the Tampa Bay Rays. New York sits at 30-21, second in the division, but the mood feels heavier after losing six of its last 10 games.

Judge did not hide from it. According to MLB.com’s Bryan Hoch, the Yankees captain put the responsibility directly on himself.

“I’m not doing enough at the plate,” Judge said. “That’s what we’re doing right there. … I wouldn’t say we’re not seeing the ball well. I think it’s about making sure we’re swinging at the right pitches.”

That quote told the story. New York has not won any of its last four series, including a split with the Blue Jays. The Yankees still have enough talent to steady themselves, but the rhythm has slipped. The at-bats feel tighter, and every missed chance feels louder. Under the stadium lights, every empty inning now carries extra weight.

Yankees need Aaron Judge to reset the tone

Judge remains dangerous, of course. He is slashing .250/.381/.554 with 16 home runs and 30 RBI. Those are still strong numbers for most players. Yet Judge set a different standard last season, when he delivered an MVP-caliber .331/.457/.688 line and looked like the force driving everything in the Bronx.

This is not panic time. It is response time.

Judge’s honesty matters because leaders do not just speak when everything works. They absorb pressure when things get uncomfortable. The Yankees need that version of him now. They need cleaner swings, better pitch selection, and more traffic converted into damage.

The AL East will not wait. The Rays are ahead, and the division race already feels sharp. For Yankees fans, the question is simple: how loudly will Judge answer?
